Workshops and Presentations

These workshops have been created by Jean Winter, M.Ed.  The specific content of each workshop can be tailored to meet the specific needs of all groups no matter the subject.

Let’s Talk

What Was That You Said?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming as a Tool for ALL Educators

Neuro-Linguistic Programming uses the information we receive through the senses, language, and other non-verbal communication systems through which our world is given meaning. NLP helps us discover and consciously access the communication programs we use to achieve our desired outcomes. We need outcomes to direct our behaviour. Through learning to read non-verbal cues, paying attention to language and understanding how to achieve outcomes, educators can use NLP techniques to help their students’ learning.

I am a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  The content of the workshop can be tailored to meet the specific needs of districts and schools. Please contact me in order discuss your needs vis a vis the workshop.

Finding Your Voice and Using it Effectively

We are all professional voice users. However, many of us experience vocal damage resulting from poor vocal habits. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn how the voice works and have experience of exercises and tips designed to warm up the entire vocal mechanism and avoid problems.

This workshop has been developed using my experiences in vocal workshops conducted by the Voice Care Centre of Toronto and the Voice Department of the Stratford Festival, and as a singer.

Jean sees possibilities

Jean is a willing, organized and caring mentor; music and words are her passion and bring joy to her life.

Are They Illiterate or Alliterate?

The demands of school curricula put poor readers at risk. Participants will learn strategies to help identify students’ reading issues and work with reluctant readers to help them make meaning and become more motivated to read. These ideas can be used in all learning situations and no matter the subject.

In addition to my work as Head of Special Education, I served as the Literacy Facilitator for Thomas A. Stewart S. S.  I bring to this workshop my experience working with staff and students to help support awareness of literacy needs and to improve student school success.

Jean is encouraging

Jean was my mentor during teacher’s college. I found her to be supportive, caring and wonderfully encouraging. I saw firsthand how much she cares about those in her life and her former students. Definitely an individual who helped inspire me to continue to pursue special education.
